Health Fair at Centennial Hospital

Frisco-Online.com had a booth at the Health Fair today so Dana and I volunteered the event. They had a great turnout and I was pleasantly surprised by how many people came up to me and were interested to discuss their ideas and concerns regarding Frisco. All of the kids at the event enjoyed watching the Careflight Helicopter take off and land. I grazed on cookies and candy all afternoon....perfectly suiting for a health fair!

New park discussions in Stonelake Estates

I attended the meeting put on by the Parks and Rec board to discuss the proposed park between Stonelake Estates and Custer Creek Farms. It was a lively discussion among the residents concering the type of Park they would like to see. This was an information gathering session by the Board before they go to design phase.

Teachers on Ice!

Tonight we took the entire family to Teachers on Ice. If you have never been, it is a wonderful event that benefits the Frisco Education Foundation. It pairs the teachers of Frisco in a grudge match hockey game. My kids loved the game and the turnout packed the house.

I got 3rd place in the "Chuck a Puck" contest and won my boys an autographed hockey puck. I cannot quite make out who actually signed it but I am sure it is someone very important :)

Frisco-Online.com's 2nd Annual Kid's Safety Day

Today we have our 2nd annual kid's safety day at Legacy Christian Academy. The weather did not hold up for us but we did need the rain. Despite the poor weather he had another great event. A few hundred families showed up to learn bike safety, get car seat checks, get finger prints and ID checks, learn pool safety, and much more! We even got to see the Care-Flight helicopter land in the parking lot!

This is quickly becoming a great pre-summer tradition that we really enjoy doing. Thank you to all of our volunteers that helped make this a great event.

Jimmy Buffett comes to Frisco

I got to take a break tonight from the campaign trail and attend the Jimmy Buffett concert with my wife and some friends. I was my first Margaritaville experience. As always, Pizza Hut Park was a great venue for a concert and the weather was perfect. Jimmy Buffett's performance was not bad either.

Of course, all of my friend's were calling me on the way home asking what I was going to do about the traffic problem after concerts when I am on Council. I guess that goes with the territory.

Relay For Life

After our softball game, our family headed over to the Frisco Relay for Life Event. Frisco-Online has become the perennial top fund raiser. Our team raised over $10,000 for cancer research this year.

My kids got to se the illuminary dedicated to Dana's mom, who died of cancer a few years ago. Zach still remembers his mimi and said he was glad she was in heaven.

The event was held at Pizza Hut Park this year which was a great venue. And we finally had great weather after the last 2 years of terrible weather.

Wal-Mart Opens in Frisco

I went by the Wal-Mart ribbon cutting today. We live in Northwest Frisco so I am certain we will use it often. It is a joe on Frisco-Online on "when will Wal-Mart open?" Well, it is finally here
